A SMOOTH TAKEOFF: ONLINE TRAINING PILOT SUCCESS! |
The online Masterlink Apprentice Training Workshop pilot was a success!
Masterlink’s pilot online training workshop, led by Apprentice Training Manager Pete Shields, brought together seven Masterlink apprentices - most from the lower South Island and remote regional areas. The four-hour session focused on online and on-job assessments, with Pete offering the group valuable one-on-one support throughout. Feedback from the session was extremely positive, with several apprentices even saying they wished it had run longer. Otago and South Canterbury Regional Manager Danny Ledwith shared: "My lads all found it very beneficial and were delighted with the one-on-one engagement they received. They said it really helped having Pete there to guide them through the bookwork and share his knowledge." Thanks to its success, another workshop is planned for July - stay tuned for the date! |

REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT: POSTS WORTH RE-SHARING! |
Upper South Island Regional Manager Steve Weeks recently shared a great moment on Instagram - celebrating the progress of his soon-to-be fully qualified apprentice, Brendan! |
"Full Circle Moment at Ara
Meet Brendan, a 5th year plumbing apprentice who’s just about to graduate and couldn’t stop smiling at the Ara Careers Tradeshow today.
Why? Because this is where it all started, 5 years ago at a roadshow just like this one and sparked his journey into the trades and now he’s standing here as a soon-to-be qualified Plumber/Gasfitter. Proof of where hard work, the right support and a solid pathway can take you.
From curious student to confident tradie - what a journey…" |

PRIDE MONTH: WHAT RESPECT LOOKS LIKE 💪 |
We're using Pride Month as an opportunity to share what it feels like to belong to a workplace and industry where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported to thrive. So, how does it show up? Respect on the tools and onsite means having each other’s back — whether it’s an apprentice, a teammate, or anyone on site. It can be shown in small, everyday ways — using someone’s correct name or pronouns, speaking up when something’s not right, or simply making it clear that you’re in your colleague's corner. |
We'd love to hear your stories so we can share just how easy respect can be 🌈 Has there been a moment or an action — big or small — that made you or someone else feel truly respected for who they are? What are some easy or small ways we can show up for our team? |
