Masterlink Training Day*

Let's take your first-year apprentice's skills to the next level.

There's a lot to learn in the first year of an apprenticeship — and at times balancing your apprentice's learning needs with the needs of your business can be a real challenge.

The Masterlink Training Day*, powered by government funding to assist employers, will enable your apprentice to spend time learning with no charges involved.

 How it works

When your first-year apprentice works at least 40 hours during the week, Masterlink will credit your business with 8 hours — a free Training Day — which you can use to upskill your apprentice.

It's all about flexibility. You choose what they learn — and you will not have to pay for their time because we're covering their wages.

Your apprentice could be in the workshop taking apart a shower mixer or replacing tap cartridges, or you could take them out on a job with you the next time you are preparing a quote. You could get them into your office to learn about administration or deal with customer enquiries.

Training Days could also be spent attending Health & Safety or First Aid courses or getting some extra study/experience done in preparation for block course, or  — in future — taking a Masterlink course.

Masterlink online learning

We are developing a programme of 12 Essential Skills modules designed to provide our first-year apprentices with gold standard knowledge they can apply in your business.

The modules are short online courses, webinars or instructional videos lasting no more than two hours. These modules will be compulsory and tested, with the expectation that one module per month will be completed during Training Day hours.

A variety of topics will be covered, ranging from invoicing and budgeting to communication skills and resilience. We welcome your suggestions for further learning that would add value to your business.
