What is the role of the Coordinators?

Matching the right apprentice with the right host is where the relationship starts with a Regional Coordinator, and it continues over the four years of the apprenticeship.

Before placing an apprentice with a host, the coordinator spends time identifying the sort of person they want, their work culture and what their expectations are, to ensure the right fit.

Lengthy interviews by the coordinators with young people are carried out to ensure they have the right attitude, have an aptitude for taking up a trade, are focused enough to take on a four year commitment, understand the responsibility of taking on an apprenticeship and loyalty to a host.

For the following four years of the apprenticeship, the Masterlink coordinators work closely with the apprentices and hosts, making sure everything is working smoothly for everyone.

Because of their indepth knowledge of the industry in their region, coordinators are able to arrange short term placements with other hosts in the region to ensure apprentices receive training in the different components required for their registration.

There is a huge flexibility built into the programme, so coordinators can place apprentices with hosts for short periods to help out when the workload is heavy, or find positions for apprentices for short periods where a host doesn't have a lot of work available.

Their indepth knowledge of the industry in their region ensures they can anticipate and meet the needs of their hosts and apprentices. It is a win-win situation all round.
